Alaska Airlines has reached a four-year agreement in concept with the members of its pilots’ labor union after more than two years of negotiations.

Alaska Airlines spokesman Paul McElroy declined to disclose details of the contract.

The Seattle-based airline, a unit of Alaska Air Group, is pleased with the outcome, he said. Talks with the Air Line Pilots Association began in January 2007.

Final language of the contract still needs to be worked out and approved by the union’s representatives, McElroy said. Then the accord can go to the union’s 1,500 members for a vote.

Alaska Airlines and Alaska Air subsidiary Horizon Air serve more than 90 cities throughout the U.S., Canada and Mexico.
