The Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) has just confirmed that two added groups of gorillas are presently under habituation. The Kahungye and Oruzogo groups are undergoing a gradual process of getting used to nearby human presence, something which can take up to 18 months, following which the two groups will be available for tracking by tourist visitors. Once this is achieved, the available number of permits will reach 64 a day, i.e., 8 visitors maximum per day for each of the habituated groups (unless rested or otherwise taken off the daily visiting schedule for operational or medical reasons). A further habituated group is strictly reserved for research and monitoring and cannot under any circumstances be visited by tourists.

For more information, visit the UWA website at www.ugandawildlife.org or write with specific inquiries to [e-posta korumalı] .

Also remember that www.friendagorilla.org continues to operate where “friends” via Facebook can be made with live gorillas at a nominal fee of US$1 – only ONE dollar. Sign up to support wildlife conservation.
